His full name is Chip Edward Kelly, and he was born on 25th November 1963. Chip Kelly was born in Dover, New Hampshire, the United States of America. He went to the Manchester Central High School. After graduating from high school, Kelly went on to get a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. He got his degree in the year 1990 from the University of New Hampshire. During his high school years, Kelly played as a quarterback in the school’s football team. During his college days, he switched positions to defensive back. Early on, he also used to play ice hockey and basketball, but eventually, he decided to stick with football.
In the year 1990, Kelly managed to become the coach of the freshman team at Columbia University. The following year he became the coach of the varsity team. He returned to the University of New Hampshire where he earned his degree in the year 1992 to serve as a position coach. Even though he left after some time, he later returned and was made the offensive coordinator here. He served in this post from 1999 to 2006.
The breakthrough in his career came when he coached the Oregon Ducks from 2009 to 2012. This is also where Chip kelly met his present girlfriend, Jill Cohen. Kelly was appointed in Oregon in the year 2007, and on March 31, 2009, he became the head coach at Oregon. Under his guidance, the Oregon Ducks managed to reach heights that they had never been able to reach before.
