I Chose Divorce to Rebuild Our Connection – Now We’re in Love and Dating – The Artistree

When Anu Verma and Robert Durrant first met during separate party holidays in Ibiza, sparks flew instantly. However, their whirlwind romance ended in divorce

When Anu Verma and Robert Durrant first met during separate party holidays in Ibiza, sparks flew instantly. However, their whirlwind romance ended in divorce just two years later, as Anu struggled with postnatal depression. Despite the separation, Anu reveals that she and Robert have rekindled their relationship and are now happily dating.

However, she insists she has no intention of marrying him again, saying she no longer feels the need for that kind of validation. Although initially smitten, their marriage unraveled under pressure, with Anu filing for divorce after the birth of their son, Noah, in 2018.

Anu Verma and Robert Durrant rekindle their love but choose to avoid remarriage

While she tried to move on and date others, her thoughts always drifted back to Robert, reigniting their connection and leading to their reunion. Even so, Anu remains firm in her decision to avoid remarriage, explaining that societal expectations played a role in their earlier struggles.

Anu, now 44, reflected on the complications of their past, admitting that unresolved emotions made it difficult for her to move forward. “It took separating for us to heal individually and grow, which eventually saved our relationship,” she shared. “I have no desire to become a wife again.”

The challenges of motherhood deeply impacted Anu, contributing to her struggles with self-worth and resentment. She recalls how their marriage initially felt liberating but soon gave way to insecurities and frequent arguments. “I wasn’t just frustrated with Rob—I was frustrated with the situation,” she admitted.

After their divorce, Anu sought therapy, where she discovered that much of her emotional turmoil stemmed from postnatal depression. Recognizing this helped her release feelings of guilt, prompting her to reach out to Robert. Two years after their split, they reunited, this time without any pressure to remarry.

Though Robert is more traditional and would prefer marriage, he respects Anu’s stance. She believes their relationship thrives because he values her happiness above convention. “He loves me for who I am, even if that means rejecting traditional norms,” she explained. Anu fears the negative emotions tied to their past marriage could resurface if they were to marry again, and she isn’t willing to risk their renewed happiness.

Since reuniting in September 2021, they welcomed their second child, Eva. Although others are often surprised by their unconventional decision to stay unmarried, the couple hasn’t faced any significant criticism. Their priority now is maintaining a healthy relationship, free from societal expectations.
