Sabrina Carpenter’s Grammy nomination marks a major career milestone, and her boyfriend is incredibly proud of her achievement. Following the Recording Academy’s announcement of its 2025 nominations on Friday, Nov. 8, Barry Keoghan shared his excitement for his 25-year-old girlfriend while appearing on The Jess Cagle Show.

Keoghan expressed his joy over Carpenter’s six nominations, including a Song of the Year nod for “Please Please Please,” in which he appeared in the music video. “Brilliant, I know. Absolutely brilliant.

Feckin’ brilliant, lads,” the 32-year-old Irish actor said. “No, I’m really, really happy for her, honestly, and I got to get on the phone soon,” he added, jokingly teasing the hosts for putting him “on the spot.”

When the hosts humorously suggested that he might have known the song was Grammy-bound while filming the video, Keoghan agreed, saying, “Yes, definite, definite.” He then praised Carpenter’s dedication, adding, “I don’t know anyone who works as hard.

I’m in awe watching her work and how committed she is to the standards she sets.” Keoghan further admired her vision and direction, particularly during the music video shoot, where he witnessed her clear sense of purpose.

Keoghan, who began dating Carpenter in late 2023, also shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram post, which showcased her tearful reaction to the Grammy news.

In the video, the pop star recorded her emotional response while on her tour bus as she heard her name announced among the nominees for Best Pop Solo Performance, alongside Beyoncé. “Beyoncé and Sabrina Carpenter!” she exclaimed in disbelief as her friends cheered her on.

In the emotional clips, Carpenter tearfully said, “I don’t know how that’s possible,” as her friends hugged her in celebration. “Us on the tour bus this morning take a shot every time we scream like fr headphone warning,” she captioned the post.

“This is the first year I’ve watched the live stream where I heard my name! I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t dreamt about this day my whole life so I am filled with gratitude—Thank you @recordingacademy :’)).”

Keoghan quickly expressed his support in the comments with a heartfelt “🥹💕🥇,” while other stars such as Gracie Abrams, Maggie Rogers, and Zooey Deschanel also congratulated Carpenter. The Recording Academy joined in, writing, “Congratulations! ✨”

In total, Carpenter earned six Grammy nominations, including a Song of the Year nod for “Please Please Please,” and a Best New Artist nomination. Her album Short n’ Sweet received nods for both Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year, while her hit song “Espresso” earned two additional nominations for Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year.
