Alvaro Morte was born on 23rd February 1975 and is currently forty-six years old. His family moved to Bujalance, Cordoba, in 1975 after he was born in Algeciras. He began his studies in communications engineering but switched to dramatic art, graduating from the Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático de Córdoba in 1999. Also, he studied post-graduate studies at the University of Tampere. Alvaro Morte settled in Madrid after his time in Finland. The Spanish television series Hospital Central provided Alvaro Morte with his first acting role. In his first main role, he played Ray, a driver in a Spanish regional television series, Planta 25. He was then Adolfo Castillo in the television series Bandolera, Gabriel Arena in the soap opera Love in troubled times. In Lola, the movie (2007), a biopic film about the folkloric singer Lola Flores, Morte played a bullfighter who is the protagonist’s lover. Aside from his acting career, Morte owns a theatre company called 300 pistols, founded in 2012.

From 2014 to 2017, Alva Morte starred in the long-running telenovela El Secreto de Puente Viejo as Lucas Moliner, a small-town physician. After leaving Puente Viejo, Morte played Sergio “el Professor” Marquina in the television series La Casa De Papel, whose first season aired on the channel Antena 3 in 2017. He has gained international fame, along with the television series, for his portrayal of the meticulous criminal mastermind behind the central plot of the series. Netflix acquired the series in late 2017 and began distributing it worldwide. The most recent season was released on 5th September 2021 and has garnered good reviews from the critics and public alike.

His first major role in a feature film came in Netflix’s Mirage (2018).
