Plot Overview
The story begins with Frances and 8 other strangers gathering for a ten-day retreat. There is a total of nine strangers, hence the name nine perfect strangers. The retreat center is called Tranquilim House and is situated in an imaginary town named Cabrillo situated in California. When the guests arrive at the place, they find out that they have to follow many rules that were not in the brochure for the place.
The resort had promised to transform the mental health of the guests who arrived, but the situation didn’t seem very promising. Initially, the group was banned from speaking to each other. But after some days, they figure out that something is wrong with the place. The resort’s host Masha seems a little off and weird. According to the show, the resort was located in California. But you will be surprised to find out that the shooting took place in Australia. The Tranquilium retreat center in the show is actually called SOMA in Real Life and is situated in Australia. In the show, the visitors were gathered for a ten-day retreat. But in Real Life, the retreat center only offers one for a period of five days.
It is situated near Byron Bay in New South Wales and stretches over a large area of twenty-two acres. The center has two pools, and the outside pool is the one in which Frances Welty chokes on a grape in the show. Besides the pools, the center also has a fire pit, a yoga dome, and an outdoor cinema.
