In the years 1991 and 1993, Gant was part of the top five in the league in runs batted in. During the mid-90s, both the Reds and Cardinals bid for Gant due to his excellent speed and power combination. Just when the 1992 season was about to begin, Gant got into a squabble with Connie Mack IV, who in the future would go on to become a congressman. Gant made his last World Series appearance in the 1992 season, where the Braves lost in six games to the Toronto Blue Jays.
