Hustle Ending Explained
Passion for sports is something to live for, to die for. Hustle tries to explain to the audience what love and passion for something can make you truly achieve. The story starts when Stanley, played by Adam, discovers a talent, Bo Cruz, while in Spain for an assignment. He risks his job to bring Bo into the NBA draft. Bo’s background is more of a struggling one as he comes from a lower-class background and also has a young daughter with his girlfriend. At a very young age, he has become a father, so he works as a laborer and plays Basketball for Hustle. Over a period of time, they both form a great relationship, and Stanley quits his job as a scout to focus entirely on Bo. This sports drama then shows all the highs and lows of a quintessential sports film, Bo playing the underdog.
The situation comes when he doesn’t perform well but because it is fictional a challenge is what brings out the best in Bo. Slowly with Stanley’s guidance, Bo’s level just exponentially improves and the chance to show his game in front of NBA coaches and management comes. Like how underdog movies are, Bo fails to impress in the first meet, and the rumors about him just being a fluke start emerging. Luckily, he gets another chance, and this time, the underdog becomes the star. His performance is crazy, and all the coaching staff is impressed by his performance. Stanley is again respected for what he did for the boy, and Bo is treated as this young superstar.
The ending scene of the movie, Hustle, leaves the fans questioning what happened and why it happened. Everyone expected Bo to join 76ers as Stanley was a former scout but the film showed that he was drafted by the Celtics. Now, he will represent Larry Bird’s team. Even though the fans were left a little disappointed with this, the film only tries to portray Bo’s NBA dream coming true. Whichever team he plays for is up to him but being a top NBA player is what he wanted and he got it. The movie is a true depiction of the underdog’s dreams becoming a reality.
