The CW had confirmed this news back in January of 2020 and provided Riverdale with a green light for further episodes. This early renewal for the potential teen drama came out with a bunch of other shows available on the network.

The characters of Riverdale are present in the final school year as well as the unfortunate passing away of FP Jones which is still hanging around their necks. Thus, Riverdale season 5 is supposed to start with the three episodes which were left in the last outing.
