Last Duel is a forthcoming film. Its genre is all about history as well as drama. There also is a hint of thrill in this story. Ridley Scott has done the task of directing this film. The story is adapted from a novel. This book is titled The Last Duel: A True Story of Trial by Combat in Medieval France. Eric Jager has penned this novel down. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, along with Nicole Holofcener, have written the upcoming movie’s screenplay. Damon is set to star in the lead role. On the contrary, we have Adam Driver as well as actress Jodie Comer. Ben Affleck plays a supporting role in this film. Dariusz Wolski was responsible for the cinematography of The Last Duel.

The story of The Last Duel is set back in 14th century France. We see the story of two best friends. They are Jean de Carrouges and Jacques Le Gris. They are ordered to fight to the death. It happens after Carrouges blames Le Gris for raping his wife. The cast in this film is studded with stars. The list includes Matt Damon reprising the role of Jean de Carrouges. Adam Driver enacts the character of Jacques Le Gris.

Jodie Comer does the part of Marguerite de Carrouges. Ben Affleck reprises the role of King Charles VI. Harriet Walter is set to enact the character of Nicole de Buchard. Nathaniel Parker will play the part of Sir Robert D’Thibouville. Sam Hazeldine reprises the role of Thomson du Bois. Last but not least, Michael McElhatton will enact the character of Bernard Latour.

Release Date and Production Updates!

The first time anyone discussed The Last Duel, it was July of 2015. We also had Francis Lawrence planning to direct the film. Shaun Grant has written the screenplay. But then no further development was announced on it. Later in 2019, things took form. Ridley Scott came up to direct a film with Ben Affleck, and Matt Damon set to star. We saw how the Disney – Fox merger happened. Thus, Disney held all the rights to the film. The process of filming began on The Last Duel.

It was the 14th of February 2020. The location was set to be Dordogne in France. Everything continued till the 12th of March 2020. It was in the medieval castle of Bronze le Chatel, located in Burgundy. Approximately 300 people were present on the crew, along with 100 extras. The film, The Last Duel, was originally set to start a limited theatrical release on the 25th of December 2020. It was before everyone went wide on the 8th of January 2021. Well, as you guys have already known that the recent pandemic has caused many delays. The release date was pushed back to the 15th of October, 2021.
