His Cycling Journey And Cyclo-cross World Championships Win
The 22-year-old Tom Pidcock was born on 30 July 1999 in Leeds, Yorkshire, United Kingdom. He has been a cyclist since the day he was born. Literally, he started to ride a bike when he was three years old. And since then, his bike has been like a part of his body. He was always found cycling in the parks, racing his friends. Many times, he got into trouble for performing wheelies in the school.
At just 7, he entered his first competition but lost to a girl. While he was ten, he decided he needed to work hard. He needs to put more effort into it. So he used to wake up early to practice as many rounds as he could. Since then, he has been putting everything into his cycling career. His success is proof of that.
Gold in Cyclo-cross World Championships
Tom Pidcock, a British multi-disciplinary cyclist, soloed to his largest cyclo-cross victory to date at the 2022 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in Fayetteville, USA, on Sunday.
On lap four of nine, Pidcock made his decisive move, pulling away from the field as the riders handled the course’s most demanding section. Due to a period of sustained acceleration, he was able to stretch out a lead. No one could match his speed, and for the rest of the race, Pidcock was never seen by the chasing pack.
Pidcock won by 30 seconds, with Dutchman Lars van der Haar coming in second and Belgian Eli Iserbyt coming in third. Pidcock, ever the performer, offered the fans in Fayetteville a memorable victory celebration when he crossed the finish line in a Superman position – laying flat on his saddle with one arm spread out while the bike’s wheels were still spinning.
On his Instagram post, he expressed – ‘What a RACE. What a COURSE. What a CROWD. What a DAY’.
