As of right now, “Kennedy” Anderson’s departure from American Idol has been officially confirmed. After Kennedy’s performance “Human” at the Aulani Disney Resort in Hawaii on Monday night, Ryan Seacrest, the show’s host, commented, “You’ll notice there was no voting information throughout Keneddy’s performance just now. Since these shows were previously recorded in Hawaii, Keneddy has decided to leave our show for personal reasons. We wish her the best.

Kenedi updated her Instagram after Ryan made the following announcement: “I’m unable to continue on American Idol due to personal concerns. I’ve never had to make a decision this difficult, but I know it’s important. I’m incredibly appreciative of American Idol, the judges, the producers, the incredible participants, and all the supporters. Thank you for providing me with such a wonderful opportunity to express myself, pursue my aspirations, feel joy and happiness while doing what I love, and make friends for the rest of my life.”

When Anderson announced her withdrawal from the contest, her supporters flocked to the comments section to express their sorrow. A follower wrote that they were unfortunate to see Kenedi’s departure from the show and another user commented asking if she was okay and they wanted her to come back to the show. A third supporter wrote that Kenedi was their favorite contestant, and she could have won the show.

An American Idol representative responded to Newsweek by saying, “Although we are sorry to see Kenedi go, we are overjoyed to witness this happy 20th season develop with the great talent vying to become the next American Idol.”

Kenedi uploaded images of her graduating from high school last month on Instagram. The singer went to her high school prom, and while she looked stunning during the performance, her prom gown elevated the image even more. She was dressed in a white and nude colored halter dress, with minimum makeup and a typical ponytail.

The native of Virginia stunned the judges with her passionate performance on Lady Gaga’s “Applause” during her singing competition audition. While contestant Katy Perry believed that she was destined to be a star, judge Luke Bryan stated that she could be the biggest star they’ve ever seen. The judges gave her one among the three platinum tickets after her dynamic singing, advancing her straight to Hollywood Week. Since then, her American Idol audition video has received over 5.7 million YouTube views.

While Kenedi remained quiet about her “personal reasons” for leaving American Idol, the lyrics of a song she uploaded the following day on TikTok have led many to speculate that she did so because she signed a record deal.

Other Contestants Who Left American Idol Mid Season

Mario Vasquez left the competition during Season 4 in 2005, claiming that the program wasn’t suitable for him. However, a complaint that surfaced two years later claimed that Vasquez was kicked off the program for sexually harassing a production accountant who worked on the program. Popular participant Wyatt Pike left in 2021 as well, citing unclear “personal reasons,” as he also did. Pike was on to something notable, according to Richie’s prior statement.
