That makes it clear that Qala belongs from a classical background in terms of music. Her mother was also a thumri singer who has retired and led a very solitary life.

As the best playback singer of her time, Qala won the Golden Vinyl award, a very prestigious award in the music industry of India. She then tries to call her mother to share her success, but she is a little disappointed by the response her mother gives. Her mother resided in Himachal Pradesh at that time.

After that, she goes to record a song with her friend and lyricist Majrooh. There she gets a piece of news that saddened her. She was told that another very famous singer Mr. Sanyal is, in fact, dying.

After hearing the news, a journalist asks her if she has ever sung with the legendary singer, who is on his deathbed right now. In answer to that question, she replies that she never had the chance to sing with him. In response to that question, a young man pops up and calls her a liar. He was wearing a white kurta and turban on his head, and she hallucinated him in her home.

It is possible that he is the brother of Qala and the son of Urmila, which the journalists mentioned earlier in the film.
