Reba McEntire, recognized as the queen of country, graciously hands over the spotlight on “The Voice.” In the latest episode, Team Reba’s standout performer, Ruby Leigh, captivated the audience with a powerful rendition of McEntire’s classic ballad, “You Lie,” marking the commencement of the live shows. As the top 12 contestants showcased their solo talents, the stakes were high, determining who would advance to the Season 24 semifinals.

Ruby Leigh’s emotionally charged performance resonated with superfan coach Niall Horan, who commended her ability to convey the song’s narrative. Horan expressed, “There hasn’t been a time that you’ve performed on this show where I haven’t got goosebumps. The way you sold that story was special. I loved that you were looking over at Reba for approval. It was a really cute little moment between coach and singer, but Ruby, you are insane.”

Reba McEntire herself was deeply moved by the 16-year-old’s rendition of her 1990 hit. Overwhelmed with emotion, McEntire praised Leigh, stating, “You blew it out of the water. It was absolutely spectacular. The best thing you can do is connect with the person when you’re singing. You definitely did. Gwen and I are bawling.”

In another standout performance, country-soul singer BIAS channeled his inner rock god with a fiery rendition of Johnny Cash’s “God’s Gonna Cut You Down.” Dressed in sparkly black dress slacks and an embroidered blazer, the Tennessee vocalist commanded the stage amidst blazing pyrotechnics. Reba McEntire, who had turned for BIAS during his blind audition earlier in the season, expressed her admiration, saying, “That’s the reason why I wanted you on my team. My gosh, you’re good. Way to go, that’s a wonderful performance.”

Coach Gwen Stefani also lauded BIAS for his unique artistic identity, saying, “It’s like a dream that you’re on my team and that we have this connection. You just keep being you. You are the purest person I’ve ever met.”
