Mads Mikkelsen is now set to sit on the vacant place created by actor Johnny Depp. It happens in Fantastic Beasts 3 for the role of Gellert Grindelwald. In one of his recent interviews, Mads has disclosed some information regarding how his performance in the film will be a bit different than what Johnny interpreted the character as. Mads said that it is now going to be him and thus, it is all different. In an interview with the EW, he says that this is a very tricky part because the whole team is still working out on it and there has to be a connection between what Johnny did and what he is going to do. At the same point in time, he says that they have found a few links to the previous version of the character. Mads says that there surely are some links that do not completely detach from what Depp has already masterfully done.

In the first two films of the franchise, that is, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as well as Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, we saw Johnny Depp portraying the part of Gellert Grindelwald. He left this franchise and all its upcoming projects after Warner Brothers personally asked him to step down. It happened after the outcome of his defamation suit that he filed against The Sun. As a result of this factor, this upcoming film which was scheduled for a release date for November of 2021 has been pushed back till July of 2022.

Fantastic Beasts 3 is going to be directed by David Yates. It will be penned down by J.K. Rowling as well as Steve Kloves. This franchise stars actor Eddie Redmayne along with Katherine Waterston. The cast list also includes Dan Fogler and Ezra Miller with Jude Law. Even a confirmed release date for the film has been set for the 15th of July 2022.
