The plot of Top Gun (1986)

In one of the competitions, Maverick was teamed up with Iceman to win the School contest. Maverick and Iceman ended up arguing with him, taking too long to attack an enemy craft. When two of the planes end up getting close, and one of them flies into the sea, both Maverick and Iceman eject from their planes, but unfortunately, one of Maverick’s good friends, Goose, is killed in the process.

Maverick is badly affected by Goose’s death, and his confidence is ruined because of that. Nonetheless, he graduates from his class and is promoted to the enterprise, where an incident with the enemy MiGs causes a battle between them and Maverick and Iceman. Iceman, alongside Hollywood, is launched to the air with the MiGs but is jumped by enemy pilots. Hollywood is shot down, and Iceman is left all alone until Maverick is also launched. Despite the malfunctioning catapults, Maverick arrives at the battlefield but is surrounded by one of the enemy pilots.
