One of the most popular and teenage shows from Netflix ‘Never Have I Ever’ has been renewed for a new season. ‘Never have I ever’ season 2 has been added into the bucket of upcoming teenage centric drama series. With a successful season 1, the show has managed to gain massive popularity in a short time. The pilot season of the show premiered in April 2020, soon after the world was surrounded amidst the four walls of their homes during the lockdown. The show, however, became a perfect watch for the teenagers who couldn’t walk out of their homes.

As soon as the debut season came to an end, the young viewers started anticipating a new season. The point at which the initial season ended gave the plot various horizons that could be stretched and explored in an extended storyline. The show was, however, renewed for a new season in July 2020, but no official appearance was made against the announcement from any member of the team.

But we guess we have some official news finally. Soon after the news spread like wildfire, the show’s cast shared the good news to the fans of the show on their official social media handles. The announcement was made via a scripted zoom video call that was uploaded on the respective accounts related to the show. The show started filming in November after months of waiting due to the global pandemic that acted as a barrier. For now, the show, however, has no exact release date but is likely to return with a brand new season by April 2021. The show is likely to feature the old cast with some more character additions to suffice the needs of an extended storyline. Reportedly, Tyler Alvarez, Megan Suri, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and P.J. Byrne have joined the team of Never have I ever for the upcoming season.

Never Have I Ever Storyline

For those of you who don’t have any clue regarding the plot of the pilot season, let us spill some information on your screens. Never Have I Ever is an American coming of age comedy-drama series that revolves around an Indian American teenage girl-Devi Vishwakumar. Devi was close to his father all throughout in comparison to the equation she shares with her mother. Unlike her mother, Nalini, Devi’s father, Mohan doesn’t believe in strict parenting. He helps Devi overcome complications in her life by means of discussing it with utmost love and generosity.

But soon, Devi’s life is turned upside down. During her performance at an annual school function, Devi’s father dies of a sudden heart attack. The trauma of losing her father paralyzes Devi down her waist for three months. Her father had always motivated her to play the harp. For both of them, it held a deeper meaning than being just an instrument. But after losing her father while playing the harp on stage, the instrument has become a nightmare in her life.

Devi and her mother tried hard to overcome the loss they’ve suffered. After a traumatic year, Devi joins the school and wants to change her social life completely. She wants to look cool and have a boyfriend to be popular. Devi is friends with Eleanor and Fabiola, who she thinks are ‘uncool’ just like her. She feels that her brown identity and the Indian aura surrounding her upbringing act as barriers in her teenage life. Devi has huge differences with her mother that sparks arguments every now and then. She has a crush on Paxton, a popular teenage guy in her school, and fantasizes about him, but he seems out of her approach. We also get to see her competitor Ben and her equation with him.

However, the story is a roller coaster that takes us through a series of personal stories in the life of Devi and her attempts to overcome the complications that her life behold. As the show proceeds, Devi is trapped amidst a lot of confusion. Nalini wants to take her back to India, Ben and Devi have started to feel things for each other, and Paxton seems to be inclined towards Devi. So how is Devi gonna deal with all the situations? Well, for that, we clearly need to wait for the upcoming season.

Created by Mindy Kaling, the show is loosely based on her teenage life experiences. The initial season starred Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as the protagonist alongside Poorna Jagannathan, Jaren Lewison, Darren Barnet, Lee Rodriguez, Richa Moorjani, Sendhil Ramamurthy, and Romona Young in important roles. Narrated by John McEnroe and Andy Samberg, the show had a total of 10 episodes. The upcoming season is likely to stream on Netflix by April 2021.
