After wooing the audiences with their Korean dramas, actors Song Joong-ki and Kim Tae-Ri are back with their upcoming film titled ‘Space Sweeper.’ Directed by Jo Sung-hee, ‘Space Sweepers’ is an upcoming South Korean film that is believed to be the first Korean big-budget action film that has been set in space. The team, however, wanted their film to have a theatrical release in 2020, but the release date kept on getting postponed due to the global health pandemic.
So, in the end, the official team of the film planned their project to have an online premiere on the worldwide streaming platform Netflix. The official distributing rights of the film were acquired by Netflix in December last year, and now it has put an end to our waiting since the film is coming out in less than a month now.
Money is their only goal.

The trailer of the film was dropped on YouTube, and the film is scheduled to release on 5 February 2021. As per the released poster and trailer, the film is set in the year 2092 in space. It portrays a crew of space sweepers in the spaceship Victory, and the visuals shown in the trailer seem very convincing. Song Joong-Ki plays the role of Tae Ho, The Battleship Island, who is a space pilot and the ship’s genius. Meanwhile, Kim Tae-Ri portrays the role of Jang, The Handmaiden, who is a mysterious ex-pirate. Apart from the above-mentioned leads, the film also stars Jin Sun-Kyu and Yoo Hai-jin who are all set to portray their roles as spaceship engineers and a reprogrammed military robot Bubs respectively.
The four outer space junk miners then come across an Earth destructing weapon, a human-like robot, who is disguised as a 7-year-old girl. They find her in the crashed spaceship, which the crew felt like a win after finding it in good condition in the scavenged debris of space. The trailer of the futuristic fantasy movie is full of visuals of robots, space battles, fights, and spaceships. ‘Space Sweepers’ were originally titled as ‘Victory,’ naming the film after the space vessel, the protagonists of the story travel in and own. The film will follow a story of the space crew who are responsible for saving the earth from the irreversible destruction it is about to witness. With lots of action-packed sequences, the film is likely to hold a good amount of comedy and sarcastic content as well.
Song Joong-ki has been previously seen in projects like ‘The Innocent Man,’ ‘Descendants of the Sun,’ ‘Arthdal Chronicles,’ and ‘A Werewolf Boy’ that proved to be a super hit at the box office. Meanwhile, Kim Ta-Ri has been seen in the film ‘The Handmaiden,’ ‘Little Forest’ and ‘Mr. Sunshine’ that has been highly rated.
The film has been created with the hope that the universe amidst it will expand and extend to various games and webtoons. It is, however, believed to become the ‘Star Wars’ of its home country, and by witnessing the first looks shared, we can’t agree more with the speculations. ‘Space Sweepers’ will premiere on Netflix on 5 February 2021, so save the dates!
