Cobra Teaser Starring Irfan Pathan and Vikram

Cobra

The teaser for Vikram starrer Tamil film ‘Cobra’ has been finally dropped on YouTube, and the fans clearly can’t hold on to their excitement. Directed by R. Ajay Gnanamuthu, ‘Cobra’ is an upcoming Tamil film that lies in the Supernatural/Action-Thriller genre. While the poster release of the film last year created a buzz amongst the viewers, it became a point of anticipation as to when the other important news regarding the film will be brought to the audiences. The film was, however, scheduled to hit the screens in 2020, but the shooting delay due to the coronavirus outbreak pushed the project to 2021.

Starring Vikram, the film marks the film debut of the Indian Cricketer Irfan Pathan in a lead role. He is likely to portray the character of an Interpol officer. Apart from the two male leads, the film also features Srinidhi Shetty, Miya, Sarjano Khalid, Mirnalini Ravi, and K.S. Ravikumar. With the movie debut of Irfan Pathan, ‘Cobra’ also marks the Tamil cinema debut of Srinidhi Shetty in a prominent role.

The 108 seconds teaser is full of suspense and action and tries to draw the viewers’ attention towards it with the utmost ease. It begins with a glimpse of Vikram, who believes that “every problem has a mathematical solution” and gives a cunning laugh. Vikram is playing the role of a mathematician in the film. He is, however, referred to as ‘COBRA, the mathematician’ maybe because people are unaware of his real identity. As per the teaser and posters that have been released by the official team, Vikram is likely to carry different avatars in the film, which might be the reason he’s unidentifiable in the film. In the span of the entire teaser, we see him almost 7 different looks, which look quite unrecognizable. Vikram’s character, referred to as ‘Cobra,’ uses mathematical equations and logic to solve impossible crimes.

Then begins a series of investigations and a lookout for ‘Cobra’ and how he manages to escape every time. The visuals of the lookout are enthralling, and the looks that Vijay carries-astonishing. Towards the end, we see Vijay been tied upside down where he’s beaten up and interrogated about his identity of being a maths teacher. He mockingly laughs and murmurs mathematical formulas. Seeing this, the character of Irfan Pathan and his entire team is confused and shocked. And this marks the end of the teaser. As per the updates, Vikram is essaying the role of Madhiazhagan, while Irfan Pathan is essaying the role of Aslan Yimlaz. However, the actual characters, played by the rest of the cast remain unannounced.

With an outstanding cast and a well-created teaser, there’s something more that catches the viewers’ attention. The music and background score of the film is composed by the Grammy-winning artist A.R Rahman, and that is enough to add some extra glitter to the movie. As per the speculations, Vikram is likely to carry 25 different avatars throughout the stretch of the film. However, the looks we saw in the teaser clearly remind us of Kamal Hassan’s 2008 film ‘Dasavathaaram,’ where he carried different and unrecognizable looks, which to date have remained to be an example of perfection.

Initially, the film was titled ‘Amar.’ But since the film is scheduled to release in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, the makers wanted to develop a title that might be suitable in all the languages. Hence they finalized the title as ‘Cobra.’ The upcoming film ‘Cobra’ doesn’t have a finalized release date as of now, and we are waiting for a few more updates to be dropped by the official team.
