Eros Now’s Jamun: Preview, Streaming on 21 January

Jamun

Eros Now has announced the release of its upcoming film, which is titled ‘Jamun.’ While the film has been away from limelight and attention, we can’t help but bring the details and updates of this beautiful movie to the readers and the viewers. Starring Raghubir Yadav, Shweta Basu Prasad, Sunny Hinduja, Saurabh Goyal, Krishna Bisht, and various others, ‘Jamun’ is an ode to the bittersweet relationship shared by a father and a daughter. The family drama speaks up on topics that are relatable to the audience. It disguises itself in humor where it needs to and but at the same time, doesn’t fail to leave you teary-eyed with various expressions that it holds.

The trailer of the film has been beautifully woven with innumerable emotions and succeeds at giving us a brief hint of the plot that the movie will follow. It opens up with the narration of a lady who boasts of her son being an employee of an international corporation. She asks Shweta Basu Prasad to speak in English so that she could make sure she is suitable for her boy. While we see her attempting to speak fluently, with efficiency, we see the boy speaking English in a totally haphazard manner. This represents the flawed system that people opt for to marry off their daughter, where a girl is tested, and a boy is boasted off falsely.

It narrates the story and struggles of a squinted daughter and her father, who has been struck by Parkinson’s disease. A tale of a dysfunctional family where a father wants to marry off his daughter with a ‘suitable boy’ and somewhere amidst this process may forget, he also has a son to look after. Fathers in brown households often seem to see the wedding of their daughters as the biggest responsibility in their lives, they’re bound to fulfill. Shweta’s character in the film seems to slam this belief with confidence when she says, “marrying your daughter is not mandatory because it is not a part of the constitution.” Afterward, we see glimpses of the family who try to stand up with courage and get hold of their lives. This family drama seems gripping with emotional encounters and is definitely a must-watch.

A still from the film

She is thankful to Eros for premiering the movie globally on their online streaming platform and sharing happiness all across. She further says that her upcoming movies narrate a beautiful tale of a father and his daughter that will be relatable to all, and the viewers will definitely have a memorable time watching and witnessing the story the film beholds. She has previously been seen in films like ‘Badrinath ki Dulhaniya’, ‘Serious Men’ and essayed potential roles in shows like ‘Chandra Nandini’ and ‘Comedy Couple.’

The enthralling drama is directed by Gaurav Mehra and produced by Vineet Rane, Ali Unwala, and Kshitij Ravi Prasad. ‘Jamun’ is all set to stream from 21st January 2021 on the online streaming platform of Eros now.
