Ellen DeGeneres: Positive For Coronavirus, What Happens To The Show?

U.S. talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has tested positive for coronavirus. The announcement was made by her by sharing a post on her social media handle. Ellen took to Twitter on Thursday and announced that she has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. In her released statement, the 62-year-old television host also mentioned that she is feeling well and following all the health protocols and guidelines.

She further informs the readers that currently, she is fortunate enough to be feeling fine and healthy. The 62-year-old television host also tells us that the people who have been in close contact with her have already been notified, and she is following all proper CDC guidelines and would be returning back to the show soon.

What about “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”?

Production on “The Ellen DeGeneres” show has been put on hold until January, hoping for the host’s speedy recovery. The news was confirmed by a Telepictures spokesperson. “The Ellen DeGeneres” show has now aired its 18th season this year. The show also became one of the first television productions to invite a limited number of live audience owing to the widespread force of coronavirus. The show even hosted around 70 people who joined the sets as virtual audiences.

The show had recently hit the headlines due to a controversy that was created because of a statement released by the host of the show. She expressed her disappointment regarding the workplace and her being misinterpreted by hee team on sets. She mentioned in her statement that the atmosphere on the sets was toxic and not up to the mark and nothing like what she hoped it to be, in her words, “a place of happiness.” The controversy affected the show on a large scale, and the ratings of the show dropped by 38% in the initial days of its 18th season.

The award-winning show went under an internal investigation after complaints of bullying, racism, and misconduct were filed. A dozen employees anonymously reported that a fear-based work system behind the scenes of the show differed greatly from the host’s pattern of cool conduct and a happy and peaceful workspace. This even resulted in the firing of the top three producers and fluctuating fan support.

Still, amidst the controversy surrounding the 62-year-old comedian, she managed to grab the E! People’s Choice Award for the best daytime talk show in November. She shared her excitement with a virtual audience and said that she was very thankful to her fans and the viewers and credited the award to her supportive and hardworking crew. The news doing the rounds this week claims that few celebrities have been avoiding any association with the show presently, owing to the given controversies.
