Wild Is The Wind Netflix Movie Review: Plot Preview Cast And Spoilers

wild is the wind

Fabian Medea is the director of the South African English film Wild Is The Wind. It was made available on Netflix a month ago. The film has a running span of 123 minutes, during which it addresses the topics of crime, drama, and racism. The film has a very dark, grey tone, and it explores several social and human topics in a very realistic way.

The film is based on two corrupt police officers, one white and the other a man of the race, who work in South Africa. The two guys are teammates on the field, and when they decide to look into a murder case, their bond is questioned.

The drama portion of the film is excellent, but the crime thriller portion barely registers. Many people have commended the cast’s acting abilities, and the plot is intriguing. However, the story’s sluggish growth loses the audience’s interest.

Wild Is The Wind Netflix Movie Plot (No Spoilers)

A native of Africa named Vusi Matsosa is a police officer in a tiny town in South Africa. He has a close friendship with his partner, a white man in his department named John Smith. Vusi has a pregnant wife, and John wants to save his farm from being sold out. They don’t mind earning some of the extra money by being a little less honest because their salaries aren’t quite enough.

The murder investigation of a girl, who also happens to be the niece of the town’s mayor, is eventually taken on by both of the corrupt policemen. They took on the case since there was a reward involved. Their friendship, however, is put to the test as a consequence of the inquiry, as many social realities of society are exposed, and the delicate subject of racism is brought up. They had never discussed racism before the case, but the course of events brought out the worst in them.

The film examines social issues, including racism and poverty, while also shedding light on the occasionally uncomfortable and tense behavior of people. As the plot progresses, the conflict between the two guys only intensifies.

Wild Is The Wind Netflix Movie Review (Spoilers)

The opening scene of the film features Vusi letting a car pass after the driver gives him money. Vusi had no idea that the vehicle’s trunk contained a woman’s body. Wilhelm, the driver, enjoyed killing people—mostly women—in a serial manner. Due to his corrupt actions, he was unaware that a murderer had passed directly in front of his eyes without catching his attention.

Later, Melissa, a young girl who happens to be the niece of that town’s mayor, runs across the murderer. When word of Wilhelm’s terrible murder of the girl spreads, the entire police force leaps to action to track out the killer. When the mayor offers a prize for information leading to an arrest, Vusi and John take it on. They ask questions about potential suspects in the interrogation chamber as they begin their investigations. When that happens, things start to turn around.

Their shared hometown is a little South African town. It was racially separated, with some apparent prejudice present but not overwhelmingly. The police force itself was experiencing the same problems. Although racism is a theme in the film, the specifics are not overpowering. The writers don’t attempt to overwhelm the viewer with overtly racist scenes. It has a subtle, genuine sense.

Each officer has their personality and perspective. As we fast-forward through the running minutes, the differences between their approaches to solving difficulties become more pronounced. Vusi has trouble with rage when provoked, while John is the more composed and level-headed member of the pair. Despite working together for a long time, they have varied perspectives on life and their surroundings, and each has their distinct ideologies. Before this particular case, their differences never interfered with the work they accomplished.

when the officers questioned Melissa’s ex-boyfriend. Vusi decided to employ some violence after being provoked. The same thing took place during the interrogation of the present lover. John lost his temper this particular time, though. The first man was white, whereas the second was black. Although the cops were not intentionally discriminatory, their actions and opinions clearly did. Vusi thought it was awful that everyone thought the culprit was probably a black person.

As they dig more into the case, the tension between them only intensifies. Through the drama in the film, the creators effectively depict human flaws, but they fall short on the crime thriller portion. There is almost no suspense because the culprit is revealed right away. As the story progresses, the film becomes monotonous, and the slow pacing may bore viewers by the halfway point. Despite having a fascinating plot, Wild Is The Wind doesn’t do well with audiences. Consequently, it is a watchable movie.
