Alina Habba, an attorney representing former President Trump, expressed skepticism regarding the outcome of the hush money trial revealing in New York courts. In an interview on Newsmax’s “Greg Kelly Reports,” she voiced doubts about the likelihood of a favorable decision, citing the political landscape of the state.
“I don’t have hopes really that high at this moment that the New York courts will do the right thing, that the jury will do the right thing,” Habba remarked, alluding to the predominantly Democratic leaning of the state. “We’re in a blue state, as you know, Greg. And I think everything’s by design.”

Highlighting the procedural history of the case, Habba pointed out its age and previous rejection by former Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance. She suggested that its revival coincided with Trump’s presidential campaign announcement.
While not directly representing Trump in this matter, Habba has been vocal in criticizing the multiple indictments against her client. She noted the conclusion of jury selection and the commencement of witness testimony in the ongoing trial.
Trump faces charges related to falsifying business records concerning reimbursements to his former attorney, Michael Cohen, for payments made to Stormy Daniels, an adult film actress, in 2016. Judge Juan Merchan, presiding over the case, has issued a gag order preventing Trump from disparaging witnesses, prosecutors, court personnel, and the judge’s family.

Habba raised concerns about the composition of the prosecution team in the hush money case, hinting at potential scrutiny of their backgrounds and affiliations.
“And like you said, look at how many people they’ve got,” she remarked. “And I can’t talk about it that, the American — because of the unconstitutional gag order, but I think that we should also take a look at who’s on that team and where that those people came from.”
The trial, historic as the first criminal proceeding involving a former or sitting U.S. president, is set to resume on Thursday.
