Michigan Attorney General Executes Search Warrants on Google and X as Part of Ongoing Investigation into 2020 Fake Electors – The Artistree

Google and X, formerly Twitter, have handed over hundreds of files to Michigan prosecutors in response to search warrants obtained after CNN revealed secret social media accounts belonging to pro-Trump lawyer Kenneth Chesebro. These accounts were linked to his involvement in the fake electors plot during the 2020 election.

The warrants granted prosecutors access to new emails and private direct messages of Chesebro, shedding light on his efforts to involve various pro-Trump figures in the plot.

Chesebro had unsuccessfully attempted to bring individuals like former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke and the founder of the Gateway Pundit conspiracy website to Washington, D.C., for the events of January 6, 2021.

The documents also reveal Chesebro’s outreach to conservative pundits and right-wing figures after the 2020 election, urging them to support his efforts to subvert the Electoral College process.

Despite previously denying the use of social media applications for private messaging during an interview with investigators, the materials provided by Google and X contain numerous messages exchanged by Chesebro during the election fallout.

Chesebro’s attempts to solicit coverage of alleged irregularities in Wisconsin’s election results were met with skepticism and rejection by some recipients. James Wigderson, a writer on Wisconsin politics, dismissed Chesebro’s claims, stating, “Trump lost.”

The disclosures from Google and X come as Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel continues her probe into the fake electors scheme. Chesebro has not been charged in Michigan but has pleaded guilty in Georgia’s election interference investigation. Despite ongoing legal developments, the case is not expected to go to trial before the November election.
