Rep. Bob Good (R-Va.) criticized Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) for her efforts to oust Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), stating that she is not acting in the best interests of President Trump.

Good, the House Freedom Caucus chair, believes that Greene’s actions are self-serving and motivated by personal hatred towards those who removed her from the Freedom Caucus.

He also disapproves of Johnson’s actions as Speaker but does not think it’s the right time to challenge him. Good suggested that a Speaker contest in November would be more appropriate, as it would allow for a more stable leadership transition.

He also emphasized prioritizing President Trump’s reelection, expanding the House majority, and winning back the Senate. Greene’s motion to vacate, which was filed a month ago, has been met with little support among Republicans, with only two House members publicly backing her effort.

There are reasonable doubts that Greene will follow through with her motion, as he believes she has been hearing from constituents that a Speaker battle is not the right move. Instead, he urges focus on the upcoming election and supporting President Trump’s reelection.

The situation highlights the divisions within the Republican party and the challenges of changing leadership dynamics in the House of Representatives.
