Biden, the first sitting president to attend the event since then-President Barack Obama in 2016,
made light of his approval ratings, Fox News, and former President Donald Trump.
The president even cracked a joke about an anti-Biden slogan
that has entered the Republican vernacular in the last year.
Biden also poked fun at Trump’s age and compared him to a “plague” at the event.
“He referred to me as ‘America’s new dad,'” Biden added. ”
“To gain admittance to the event, which was canceled in 2020 and 2021 owing to the coronavirus pandemic,
attendees were required to present confirmation
of vaccination as well as a negative same-day COVID test result.”
