According to the Washington Post, Rieger, who spent more than 30 years at NBC affiliate WRC-TV,
died of brain cancer on Saturday at a hospice facility in Montgome
ry County, Maryland.
Rieger, a native of Norfolk, Virginia, earned a journalism degree from American Univer
sity in 1980.
In 2008, she was honored by Washingtonian magazine
After 33 years at WRC, Rieger was diagnosed with a brain tumor in May 2021
Her husband, retired WRC news photographer Dan Buckley,
and three brothers are among the survivors.
