Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently addressed the possibility of listening to former US President Donald Trump’s ideas to end the war in Ukraine, expressing openness to such discussions.

However, Zelensky also mentioned that he had not directly heard Trump’s proposals and emphasized the need for detailed discussions before making any decisions regarding the conflict.

Zelensky’s remarks came in response to reports suggesting that Trump, if reelected, would pressure Ukraine into a peace deal with Russia, potentially involving territorial concessions by Kyiv. Zelensky clarified that he had not received such proposals directly from Trump and would be willing to listen to them with pleasure if given the opportunity.

Before these comments, Zelensky had invited Trump to visit Ukraine and witness the situation firsthand, indicating Trump’s private interest in accepting the invitation. However, the Trump campaign disputed Zelensky’s statements, stating that there had been no outreach from Zelensky and that Trump had expressed concerns about visiting Ukraine as a private citizen.

During the Delphi Economic Forum in Greece, Zelensky also addressed Ukraine’s challenges in receiving Western weaponry and emphasized the need for realism and optimism among allies. He highlighted the stabilized situation in eastern Ukraine and the country’s economic progress despite ongoing conflict.

Zelensky pointed out Russia’s use of aerial bombs in Ukrainian cities, describing it as a tactic aimed at creating terror and destabilizing the country. He emphasized Ukraine’s compliance with Western conditions regarding the use of supplied weapons and clarified that Ukrainian forces did not target civilian populations with Western weaponry.

Recent attacks on Ukraine’s southern regions, including missile strikes on Odesa, have caused damage to infrastructure and injuries to railway workers. Ukrainian authorities are working to restore power and address the fallout of these attacks.

Zelensky’s statements reflect Ukraine’s ongoing struggle against Russian aggression and the challenges of locating international relations to secure peace and stability in the region.
