Democratic presidential candidate Dean Phillips, considered a long-shot contender, has reversed his initial decision to drop out by March 5. He now declares his commitment to stay in the race “as long as it takes” to secure a face-off with former President Donald Trump.
In an announcement on CNN, the Minnesota Democratic congressman, Phillips, emphasized the significant need to sustain the challenge. His previous statement, made in November on X, outlined March 5 as the deadline for his campaign to gain momentum.
At that time, he expressed his intent to conclude the campaign if it proved non-viable and pledged to endorse the likely nominee, be it Biden or another candidate.

Contrary to his earlier stance, Phillips is now optimistic about his chances, predicting a minimum of 20% support in the upcoming New Hampshire primary on Tuesday.
His goal is to disrupt the current political landscape, citing the necessity to do so. He believes that while Donald Trump is likely to secure the Republican nomination, Joe Biden, whom he acknowledges as a fine individual, is destined to lose.
Current polling averages show Phillips with 3.3% support from Democrats, while President Biden leads with 70%, and fellow candidate Marianne Williamson holds 7%.
Phillips remains determined to extend his campaign, driven by a desire to challenge the status quo and provide an alternative perspective in the upcoming elections.
