Stephen Crabb, Member of Parliament for PRESELI Pembrokeshire, recently hosted a group of enthusiastic schoolchildren from Hook CP School during their visit to Parliament.

Led by Headmaster Mr. Alan Davies and accompanied by two staff members, the group of 7-11-year-olds embarked from Hook to London for an educational tour of Parliament and a stimulating Q&A session.

The day began with the children exploring the functions of Parliament at the UK Parliament Education Centre, where they participated in a lively mock debate on banning homework. Each child had the opportunity to voice their arguments, with one pupil taking on the role of Speaker to maintain order during the discussion.

After the engaging debate, the students had the chance to learn more about Stephen Crabb’s role as their Member of Parliament. They eagerly asked questions about his responsibilities, including representing local issues in Pembrokeshire, participating in debates on current affairs, and voting on legislation.

Crabb, who hails from the area and attended Fenton CP School in Haverfordwest, shared his journey to becoming an MP, sparking the children’s interest in local representation.

The Parliament Education Centre, situated near the Parliamentary Estate in Westminster, offers a range of educational workshops and tours for schools, colleges, community groups, and young adults.

Schools from all over the UK can apply for educational packages online, with travel subsidies available for those traveling from outside London. Eligible educational providers can receive up to 75% of travel costs, making the educational experience accessible to more students.
