Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, popularly known as the Russo brothers, ‘The Gray Man’ is an upcoming American thriller film. It is based on a 2009 novel of the same name, written by Mark Greaney. The movie will be produced by Benoit Jaubert, Joe Roth, Patrick Newall, and Palak Patel. It will be Netflix’s most expensive film to date, with a budget upwards of $200 million. When the film was initially announced, Anthony Russo stated that this movie would be no less than a treat for the Captain America: Winter Soldier fans as “The Gray Man” will follow the same trails of the Captain America movie but in a real-world setting.
The script of the film has been written by the Russo brothers, with their Avengers: Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The main cast of this high budget film includes Chris Evans, Ryan Gosling, Dhanush, Ana de Armas, Wagner Moura, and Charlize Theron. With the announcement of this much-awaited film, Dhanush’s casting in the film came as an unexpected piece of surprise. The video streaming platform Netflix announced on Friday that their high budget upcoming project titled ‘The Grey Man’ starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans in the lead roles, will also star Dhanush- the Kollywood superstar, in a lead role.
Later, Dhanush took to his social media platforms to share his happiness with his fans via a post. Thanking his fans and well-wishers from across the globe, Dhanush said that he was happy to be a part of the film. He was excited to announce joining the team of “The Gray Man.” He further said that he is looking forward to being a part of a wonderful action-packed experience. He then takes a moment to thank his fans worldwide for their immense love and support they have been showing to him throughout.

The Gray Man book is the first among eight sequels. The Rosso brothers are looking to turn this project into a full-fledged Netflix movie franchise. They said that the idea behind the project is to create a franchise and build out a whole universe on its own, with Ryan being at the center of it. Joe Russo further said that they have all committed to the first movie, and that’s got to be great to get us to the second movie.

But considering the spiking numbers of Covid cases in California, the film’s shooting will be pushed further by a few weeks. The Gray Man wasn’t supposed to start shooting until January 18 but is unlikely to get started anywhere in January. Since the picture is a high-stakes production, any similar shutdown in the production will come at a very high cost. The team intends to create a new franchise with a James Bond’s level of scale and budget. It is set to be the first directing assignment for the Russo brothers since their Avengers: Endgame set an all-time global box office record two years ago. With a creative team like this, the audiences and the production houses have high hopes for this project. Till then, we’ll wait for this star-studded film to hit the screens soon!
