2010’s Most Underrated Show: Baths, Dosh, & El Ten Eleven

All three build their soundscapes one layer at a time, starting from one note, sample or single instrument canvas and gradually create a multidimensional song. Amazing considering the acts are powered by only one or two members and even as counterparts, found a twist to throw onto the shared method. Plugging away at his MPC, Baths is all action – blending dream-like dance beats with an infusion of uncommon vocal pitches. Will Wiesenfeld twisted and turned his body – a physical response to his craft – making his animated charisma shine. Next up was a mix of looped beats with live piano and drumming from Dosh. Martin Dosh’s dexterous and fluid experimental sounds served as a soundtrack to the backdrop of video footage. This newly introduced element allowed a solo Dosh to hide behind his silhouette, giving the music full control to keep the audience locked in. El Ten Eleven was a pleasant surprise all around. A combination of post-rock and electronic dance with parts Explosions in the Sky and parts Digitalism. Kristian Dunn ran around the stage, one minute playing bass, strumming on his double neck guitar next then suddenly you would hear strings and sure enough, there he was sliding a bow across his guitar strings. It has been said that they are “the hardest working band out there” and their live show proves it.
