Hillary Clinton applauds Margot Robbie, Greta Gerwig after ‘Barbie’ Oscars snub: ‘You’re so much more than Kenough’

Hillary Clinton has expressed her support for “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig and star Margot Robbie after the Oscars overlooked their contributions, stating that they are “more than Kenough.”

The Academy Awards faced backlash for its nominations for the 96th annual gala, especially with Gerwig and Robbie not receiving nods in the best director and best actress categories, despite Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera securing nominations for best-supporting actor and best supporting actress.

In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Clinton conveyed her sentiments directly to Gerwig and Robbie. She acknowledged the disappointment of not winning the gold despite box office success, assuring them that their millions of fans appreciate and love them.

Clinton emphasized that they are beyond the limitations implied by the Ken character, borrowing a phrase from the movie and concluding her post with the hashtag ” #HillaryBarbie.”

Clinton’s remarks seem to draw parallels to her own experience, where she won the popular vote in the 2016 presidential election by almost 2.9 million votes but lost to President Trump in the Electoral College.

Ryan Gosling also joined the conversation, expressing his dissatisfaction with the nomination backlash. He highlighted the crucial roles played by Gerwig and Robbie in the success of the film, asserting that there is no Ken without Barbie and no “Barbie” movie without their talent, grit, and genius.

Gosling stressed that their contributions were indispensable to the history-making and globally celebrated nature of the film. He concluded by stating that he was more than disappointed that they were not nominated in their respective categories.
