In season 1 of Tokyo Revengers, Takemichi Hangaki, who is an adult working in a book store, on television watches that his former girlfriend Hinata Tachibana, along with his young brother Naoto Tachibana is killed. On his way back home, he is pushed on the train tracks by someone. After a few minutes, when he comes to his consciousness, he somehow has arrived back 12 years into the past. He is shocked to see his old friends and realizes that this is not a dream. To think he went back to his old home.
On his way, he finds that a young boy named Naoto is getting bullied. He saves him, after which they have a conversation; Takemichi learns that this is Hinata’s younger brother. After telling him all about the things that have happened to him, they shake hands, which takes Takemichi to the present. There he met Adult Naoto, who is a cop taking care of Takemichi. Naoto tells him about time traveling and how he could save his sister from the Gang. Takemichi went back to the past and tried to bond with the president and vice president of Tokyo Manji Gang.
There he learns about the personality of Manjiro Sano and Ken Ryuguji, which made him realize that they are not someone who could kill innocent people. He went back to the present. He and Naoto went to meet Akkun, Takemichi’s middle school friend who was working for the Gang in the present.
Before committing suicide, he told him about Kisaki, who is the mastermind behind all this. And whoever comes in his way, he will kill them. Upon more research, Takemichi learned that because Draken was killed in a fight, Mikey went insane and joined Kisaki. And due to that, Hinata was killed. So he tries to protect Draken from Kisaki. After a few days had passed, we saw Draken getting stabbed by Kiyomasa at a festival.
And Takemichi saved him. He went to the future and met Hinata, and they both went on a car ride. At the parking lot, Takemichi went out a bit to the washroom. When coming out of the washroom he saw a truck crushing the car in which Hinata was sitting. The truck driver was Akkun. And Hinata, who was in the car, got her legs crushed, and after a few minutes, the car exploded. This made Takemichi realizes that there is a lot more to do.
After this, we see, Takemichi is determined, and now, instead of bonding with the leaders, he is committed to being the top member. He works hard for the position. And fought very hard and courageously against Valhalla on Halloween, which was also known as ‘Bloody Halloween’.
In the fight, Baji Keisuke, who was the 1st division captain of Tokyo Manji Gang, dies after getting stabbed by Kazutora. However, the fight was won by Tokyo Manji Gang, and as a result, Valhalla merged with them.
After the victory, the gang organizes a meeting in which Mikey introduces Hanma as the new member of the group, and hundreds of more members join the gang.
Tokyo Revengers Season 2 Trailer
The 1st season ended with leaving us a cliffhanger. After saving Kazutora from getting killed by Mikey, Takemichi is very optimistic about the future. He truly believed that after that, he would be able to see Hinata again in the present. When he returns to the present, he wakes up in a car. Inside the car, there were a few others whom Takemichi didn’t recognize at first, only until realizing that they were his childhood friends, Makoto, Yamagishi, and Takuya.
He is escorted to a huge building, and he comes to know that the building is his. Shocked to witness how drastically his life has changed, he is eager to meet Chifuyu. Both Him and Chifuyu are called up by Kisaki. There, the three of them enjoy the beer, only to realize that it is drugged. A few minutes later, they wake up, tied to a chair. Kisaki told both of them how much they were interfering in his business shoots Chifuyu. And before the season ends, we see Kisaki pointing the gun at Takemichi and saying, “My Hero.”
Now judging from the trailer, we will see how Takemichi survived that encounter, but more interestingly, there will be an introduction of a new gang called ‘Black Dragon’ whose president, Shiba Taiju, will go up against Tokyo Manji Gang. We know that the fight between the group will be taking place on 25 December. But it is very unclear from the trailer when Hakkai said he would kill the president; what does he mean? Was he going to betray Mikey and kill him, or he will kill Shiba Taiju? Irrespective of that fact, the trailer also revealed that Shiba Taiju is related to the top members of the Tokyo Manji Gang.

Just to warn you, if you dig deeper in the tweet section, you are going to find a lot of spoilers, and if you like to enjoy the freshly baked animation, then I would recommend you avoid that. Now let’s talk about the above tweet. People are very excited about the possibility of seeing Manila Mikey, which will probably be shown at the end of season 2. Nevertheless, there is a bunch of new and exciting characters introduced who could bring an interesting curve to the storyline.
Tokyo Revengers Season 2 Release Date
After all discussion we had about the plot, when is season 2 coming? Is it even official? Well, luckily for you, the productions have already announced the date on which season 2 will be coming. The Christmas Showdown Arc will be released on January 2023. And for those who are residing in Japan, the show will be available on the MBS TV network. And as for the streaming platforms, unfortunately, as of now, there aren’t any platforms that have announced the airing of season 2, but we can expect them at least 1 to 2 weeks before the release of 1st episode.
