Komi Can’t Communicate usually has a series of mini-episodes, which gives us different events in a special episode. The first full episode and the first episode of the series, and this is the second episode of the series. So you can be damn sure it was an important episode.

The episode was titled “Merry Christmas,” Christmas also happens to be the day Komi was born. It’s the day of Christmas eve; Komi seems idle, albeit bored for the day. That idleness is over when a sudden call from Najimi informs her they will have a Christmas party at her home. Komi being Komi, she dreads the notion of shopping alone. So she takes her brother Shosuke to pick up the return gifts.
In the second half of the episode, we see Tadano and friends prepping a gift for Komi, which would be her Xmas and birthday present. The hilarity ensues as we see people give their unique ideas for blessings one after another. Tadano’s choice was decided to be her gift for the day.

Komi Can’t Communicate

Komi can’t communicate features Komi, who has difficulty expressing herself to others. She is mistaken to be an elite above everyone else and doesn’t need to concern herself with commoners, while everyone wants her recognition. Komi is none of it. However, due to the misunderstanding going on for so long, she can’t bring herself to say that. This changes in her first high school when she met Tadano, who is good at reading mood. He had the same impression of her, but after an awkward event and misunderstanding with her, he realized the truth. Komi expresses she wants to have friends, a hundred of them; Tadano promises he will help her and becomes her first friend.

Komi can’t communicate is created by Tomohito Oda. He is the writer and prominent illustrator of the series.
