Slice of life dramas is an altogether different genre on television right now. While many viewers incline more toward thrillers and crime-based shows, slice-of-life dramas are also crucial as part of realist television. In comparison, creating a good slice of life drama is pretty challenging because it can very well come under the mundane category. Still, there are many good shows out there. One such show is Neighbours, released on March 18, 1985, on the Seven networks. The show is an Australian soap opera chronicling the life of residents living in Erinsborough, Melbourne. The show followed the residents’ lives as they went on and about their daily lives.
The show can be categorized as a sitcom, along the lines of American shows like Friends and How I met your mother. But the concept of Neighbours was pretty new at that time. It began as a set of three families-the Ramsays, the Robinsons, and the Clarkes. The episodes focused on the relationship between the neighbors and how they lived together in a community. You must have recognized Freya Van Dyke from the Channel 9 drama Informer 3838. She played a young Nicola Gobbo in the series. The actress is currently 18- years old and already looks promising with her acting skills. She plays the daughter of a Neighbour Veteran character Amy Greenwood, Zara. Zara is shown to have a tumultuous relationship with her mother.
Phoebe Roberts as Freya Wozniak
Phoebe expressed joy in joining such a successful show on her social media, “Neighbours has always been such a huge part of the Australian film and TV industry. It’s stimulating to be a part of something so iconic and important that has gained so much loved in the UK. As a kid, I used to tune in to watch all the drama of Erinsborough unfold; it’s surreal to think I’ll be joining the cast soon”. She will be the young and mysterious girl who is new in town.
Emerald Chan as Sadie Rodwell
With the rebooted season, many families were setting up in the neighborhood. New families mean new kids. Emerald plays the role of Sadie, the daughter of the already introduced Rowells. She is paired with the mean girl, who will together bully Zara.

Gemma Bird Matheson as Kiri Durant
The actress was glad to join the show’s cast, especially as a queer character. She felt she needed to represent the queer folk in the front and was happy to do so. She is the lost daughter of Glen Donnelly and initially had a love interest with Nicolette Stone in the show. Gemma is already creating news with her acting abilities.
