Blockbuster is a show that was recently released on Netflix on 3 Nov. The popular workplace comedy show is created by Vanessa Ramos. The show was announced in November 2021. The show was originally pitched to NBC Television, but as the channel did not show any interest, the show was later purchased by Netflix. The first season which consists of 10 episodes in total, was launched for airing on 3 Nov 2022.
The series revolves around a store known as Blockbuster Video Store; this store is the last Blockbuster Video store and explores what and who it takes for a small business to be successful. Randall Park is playing the role of Timmy(who is the manager of the store), whereas Mellissa Fumero as Eliza Walker(A long time Timmy’s crush and a separated wife), Olga Merediz is Connie Serrano(A senior employee at Blockbuster), Tyler Alvarez is Carlos Herrera Madeliene Arthur as Hannah Hadman (Both of them are friends and are the young employees of the store who daydream a lot).
The program focuses on the clients and employees of the final Blockbuster Video location in the United States. After learning that all Blockbuster locations will be closing due to losses, the final store manager, Timmy (played by Randell Park), becomes upset and tries his best to keep the business open and the employees happy despite the competition. He and the other employees understand that the only way they can continue working is to constantly remind their community and customers that they provide something other firms don’t— which is human connection.
The program received an average rating of 4.7/10 and recorded a 25% acceptance rating. This score is based on 40 reviews from critics. The shooting for the show started in February 2022 and was wrapped up by April 2022. Most of the shooting for the show was done in Vancouver, Canada, and to be specific, and the show was also shot in Manitoba Street Studios.
Most of the pivotal sequences and parts of the show are filmed around Vancouver. This is one of the most populous cities in British Columbia. The cast and crew basically shoot all their scenes in the Manitoba Street Studious. The Manitoba Street Studious is one of its kind studios, and the place is full of serene scenery and all other facilities.
