A Little Bit of The Plot and Review of The Banshees of Inisherin

The film is set in the time of the Irish Civil War, which happened in the year 1923. When the war is about to end, Colm Doherty starts to ignore his friend Pádraic Súilleabháin. They were friends for a very long time, and the reason why Colm has begun to ignore his once very close friend still remains a mystery until the next scenes arrive.

In the next scene, it becomes very clear why Colm did this. Colm was a music composer and very passionate at that one. And he wanted to dedicate his remaining life to composing music and doing some things that would help him to be remembered by others, and he thought that spending time with Pádraic would only waste his time and would prevent him from reaching his goals.

Pádraic is completely devastated by this kind of breakup with his friend and also begins to get more and more upset about his situation. But Pádraic does not lose hope and continues to try to contact his friend Colm and speak with him. But Colm deliberately rejects every request of Pádraic and tries to avoid him as more as he can. But Pádraic continues to do what he intended, to talk with his friend.

Finally, after being fed up with all attempts Pádraic made, Colm finally tells him that if he doesn’t stop his quest to contact him, he will cut off one finger from his left hand with sheep shears. This was the ultimatum given by Colm that could break their trust and their friendship forever.

To help the two and restore the friendship between Colm and Pádraic, Siobhán enters with Dominic. Siobhán is the sister of Pádraic, and she tries and applies every possible method with Dominic to resolve the matter between the two. But all their hard work goes in vain as Colm does not wants to reconcile with Pádraic at any cost.

Then Pádraic goes to a pub and drinks a lot of alcohol, and becomes intoxicated with it. Then he tries to confront Colm and later apologizes for being kind of rude to him. But Colm is not in the mood for this, and he does what he told Pádraic earlier. He proceeds to cut one of his own fingers from his left hand and then delivers those to Pádraic.

Pádraic receives a warning from an elder saying that death will arrive soon on the island they live in. And Siobhán goes to the mainland to work in a library after being exhausted with her life on the island. She also gently rejects the romantic proposals Dominic makes to her. In the meantime, Colm finishes a tune and names it The Banshees of Inisherin.

This is a very well-made tragic comedy film, and any movie or comedy movie fans should definitely give this film a shot and watch it at least once. We have rated the film 8/10, and you can stream the movie on Disney+ Hotstar.
