Around 2:00 p.m., Mallett was involved in an incident that left him unconscious. The quarterback was taken from a Florida beach to a hospital by ambulance but was declared dead when he arrived, according to Deltaplex News.

Mallett appears to be yet another casualty of the perilous rip currents that have recently been ravaging Florida beaches. Seven vacationers were slain in and around Panama City Beach, about 47 miles from Destin, from June 15 to June 24.

On June 5, 1988, Ryan Michael Mallett was born. He was a National Football League (NFL) quarterback for American football. The former quarterback played in the league for seven years. He worked as Tom Brady’s backup for the Patriots for three years, from 2011 to 2013, during which time. He relocated to the Houston Texans in 2014.

Mallett was rated by the Patriots as the best quarterback available in the 2011 draft by Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network; however, the Patriots selected six other quarterbacks before selecting Mallett, drawing comparisons to Tom Brady, who was selected as the seventh quarterback in 2000.

Prior to transferring to Arkansas, Mallett played for the University of Michigan for one season. In his two seasons there, he passed for 7,493 yards and 62 touchdowns. He earned Offensive MVP honors in 2009 for leading the Razorbacks to victory in the Liberty Bowl and a record under Bobby Petrino’s coaching.

Mallett attended the 2019 XFL Tampa Bay Summer Showcase, but the league did not select him. He participated in 2021 with The Spring League Generals. In his first game, Mallett defeated the Jousters 21-19 by completing 20 of his 31 passes. He was chosen as the South Division Player of the Week for week six.

Mallett’s recruitment as an assistant coach at Mountain Home High School in Mountain Home, Arkansas, was made public on April 16, 2020. He started as the football head coach at White Hall High School in White Hall, Arkansas, in 2022.
