What Happened to Kiki Dee?
Today she lives in Herefordshire moving from London. She tested positive for COVID in 2022, which canceled her performances. ‘I’m a childless woman, yet I felt no maternal urges whatsoever.’ She has no appeal to nappy changing. In her late 30s, she was diagnosed with cancer in her womb and had a routine smear test.
Her cancer canceled two of the shows, and she expressed dislike for her voice. During this time, she also tested positive for COVID but didn’t back off from her shows and concerts. Her uterine cancer was cured with radiation treatment, but she couldn’t bear kids.
This made her kick-start in full force into her music career, playing lead in the stage musical Blood Brothers for more than 1000 shows. She has no regrets after she recovered with fans’ prayers. She was an empowered woman who started singing when women did not sing.
Kiki and her relationships
She had a genuine and close relationship with Elton John but denied a romantic connection. Her childhood was about family holidays and singing in contests.
She started singing at six and won her first talent contest during a holiday. Her father would support her in whatever she did and act as a backup. She started singing at age five.
She went on seaside trips to Scarborough in the 50s with donkeys, sand castles, and candy with her father lounging on the beach.
She was signed to the Motown UK label, and she was working hard, but she realized that she wasn’t doing well commercially. Elton signed her to Rocket Records and toured her band as his support act in the USA.
