On October 5th, Keith Jefferson’s co-star in “Django Unchained,” Jamie Foxx, who was also a close friend of Jefferson’s, shared his sorrow over the actor’s passing in an Instagram post.
Foxx wrote, “Everything hurts right now, having a hard time looking through these pictures and reliving the memories of us having a great time. Gonna miss you, man. Gonna miss you…ever since we met back in college, you have been an incredible soul. God rest, NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO SEE THE WORDS ABOUT MY FRIEND, RIP Keith.” Foxx ended his message with three consecutive broken heart emojis.
Jefferson openly acknowledged Foxx as an important part of his support system in an Instagram post from August 9th: “I have a loving family and the best friends in the entire world. From my mom to J. Foxx and everybody in between. I love you wholeheartedly.” The friendship between Jefferson and Foxx went beyond their work on “Django Unchained,” as they had worked together on numerous projects, including “The Jamie Foxx Show.”

With their shared appearance in the movie “The Burial,” which serves as Jefferson’s final endeavor, they were expected to continue their professional relationship. The MDB (Movie Database) states that “The Burial” is a true story-based movie about a funeral home owner who struggles to keep his family’s business alive while also uncovering a corrupt web of racial injustice and power dynamics. The movie, which is directed by Maggie Betts, will debut on Amazon Prime Video on October 13, 2023.
Keith Jefferson and Jamie Foxx both hailed from Texas, and it’s worth noting that Jefferson was not only a talented actor but also a star athlete during his time at Houston area Eisenhower High School. He was the son of the late Edward Jefferson, a local minister.
