James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Extended Universe (DCEU) Reboot No Return for Batman v Superman and Justice League Stars.

The transformation of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) under James Gunn and Peter Safran is indeed shaking things up. According to a report from Variety, none of the familiar faces from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice or Justice League, including Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, and Jason Momoa, will be reprising their iconic roles in the revamped DC Universe.

While Henry Cavill’s Superman replacement has already been announced, the fate of other characters remains uncertain. David Corenswet, known for his work in Ti West’s Pearl and Ryan Murphy’s Hollywood series on Netflix, is set to take on the role of Superman, with Rachel Brosnihan portraying Lois Lane in Gunn’s 2025 film “Superman: Legacy.”

Jason Momoa, who has primarily portrayed Aquaman, might find a new role in Gunn’s evolving DCU. Reports suggest he is in talks to play Lobo, a fan-favorite character known for his bounty hunting on the planet Czarnia. Whether Momoa’s Lobo will debut in “Superman: Legacy” or in a standalone film remains to be seen.

The news, however, brings uncertainty regarding Gal Gadot’s future as Wonder Woman. Though there were earlier hints of her involvement in “Wonder Woman 3” under Gunn and Safran’s direction, recent reports have cast doubt on this possibility.

Nonetheless, a few actors will continue their roles in Gunn’s new vision. Viola Davis, who portrayed Amanda Waller in recent Suicide Squad films, will reprise her role in the upcoming Max series “Waller.” There’s even a chance she might appear again in the upcoming Superman project. Actor-wrestler John Cena will lead the Max series “Peacemaker,” with a second season currently in the works, and Xolo Maridueña will continue to portray Blue Beetle in some capacity.

All in all, it’s evident that Gunn and Safran are committed to reshaping the future of DC’s film legacy. The forthcoming castings will undoubtedly play a crucial role in this new chapter.
