Numerous cherished unions have suffered this year, and it now appears that Maren Morris and her spouse of five years, Ryan Hurd, may also be splitting up.

According to Us Weekly, Morris filed for divorce on October 2, citing “irreconcilable differences,” and they also officially split on the same day. It’s important to remember that the couple had a prenuptial agreement. A three-year-old boy is also shared by the couple.

Neither Morris nor Hurd has made any public statements regarding their separation. Hurd’s most recent Instagram post took a stand in support of his wife, defending her against the “wave of vitriol” she faced for addressing issues such as racism and homophobia while celebrating the release of her two-song EP, “The Bridge.” Hurd expressed, “She deserves to be celebrated, not just tolerated. I love the response from people who don’t just love these two songs, and they needed them.”

Morris and Hurd’s romantic journey led them to get married in Nashville in 2018 after it began in 2014 during a songwriting session when they co-wrote Tim McGraw’s “Last Turn Home.” They not only shared their lives throughout time, but they also worked professionally together by co-writing songs for each other’s albums.

Both of them have previously spoken candidly about the strains their careers, particularly touring, put on their relationship. Morris described the difficulties they encountered soon after their 2018 wedding in an interview with Esquire published in January 2019.

“It was probably the hardest part of our relationship,” she acknowledged. “We went on our honeymoon, and then I immediately went on this gigantic tour opening for Niall Horan. It was more international touring than I had ever done. And I was gone more than I had ever been on any other tour.”

To navigate through these difficulties, the couple sought therapy together. Morris reflected, “We have grown so much closer because we had to make some hard decisions and have some tough talks about what this future looks like and how we can make this better. I have always loved him, but I feel like I like him in ways I never knew I could before.”
