Kate Bush is etching her name into the annals of rock and roll history, joining a distinguished league of artists who are set to receive this prestigious honor. However, Kate won’t be gracing the stage alongside her fellow inductees, as she’s chosen to gracefully bow out.

The iconic British singer-songwriter, who soared to prominence in the ’80s and enjoyed a resurgence in popularity through her association with “Stranger Things,” has penned a lengthy statement in response to her inclusion in this year’s Hall of Fame class. She expresses her profound gratitude and humility, acknowledging that her hit song, “Running Up That Hill,” was reignited by its inclusion in Netflix programming.

In her statement, Kate Bush writes, “Last year brought an unexpectedly successful revival of my track [‘RUTH’], and I’m certain that many of those who voted me into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame played a crucial role in elevating that song up the charts. Thank you!” She then drops the somewhat unsurprising bombshell that while her fellow inductees are slated to take the stage on the forthcoming Friday night in Brooklyn, she won’t be among them.

Kate elaborates, “I regret to inform you that I won’t be able to attend the ceremony tonight. Nevertheless, the true honor for me lies in knowing that you believed I deserved it.” Although she doesn’t delve into the reasons behind her absence, she generously commends the other artists set to be enshrined, with a particular shout-out to Bernie Taupin, Elton John’s esteemed songwriting partner.

Among the other notable inductees are Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine, and The Spinners. As far as our information goes, they’re all expected to make an appearance, but regrettably, Kate’s seat will remain vacant.

It’s worth noting that Kate Bush has cultivated a reputation for her enigmatic and reclusive nature, so her decision to opt-out may not come as a complete surprise to her devoted fans. It’s a testament to her unwavering authenticity that not even a fan favorite like ‘Stranger Things could coax her out of her private world. This situation underscores Kate’s steadfast dedication to her unique path.

If this year’s show follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, it promises to be an epic celebration of music. Congratulations to all the deserving inductees!
