Glen Powell has addressed the rumors surrounding a potential romance with Sydney Sweeney. In the December cover story for Men’s Health, the 35-year-old actor reflected on his growing fame, particularly after the success of Top Gun: Maverick, and shared insights into his experience filming the upcoming romantic comedy Anyone But You alongside 26-year-old Sweeney in Australia.

During the shoot, Powell’s separation from his ex-girlfriend, Gigi Paris, coincided with the filming, sparking speculations about a real-life romance with his co-star. In response to the public scrutiny, Powell acknowledged the disorienting and unfair nature of such attention in the cover story, recognizing it as part of the territory in the entertainment industry.

Anyone But You follows the characters Bea and Ben, played by Sweeney and Powell, as they navigate a faux romance at a destination wedding in Australia. Despite on-screen chemistry, off-screen rumors, and Powell’s recent relationship status, Sweeney remains committed to her fiancé, Jonathan Davino, with whom she has been romantically linked since 2018.

In August, when Sweeney graced the cover of Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood issue, she dismissed the rumors, emphasizing that their focus is on having fun and respecting each other as colleagues. She attributed the speculation to the nature of the rom-com genre, expressing that people enjoy the added intrigue.

Even as rumors swirled, Sweeney publicly wished Powell a happy 35th birthday in October, sharing a photo from the film’s set on her Instagram Story and referring to him as her “fellow camp counselor, adventure extraordinaire, and goofball.”

Directed by Will Gluck, Anyone But You also stars Alexandra Shipp, GaTa, Hadley Robinson, Michelle Hurd, Dermot Mulroney, Darren Barnet, and Rachel Griffiths. The romantic comedy is set to hit theaters on December 22.
