Maria Sofia Valim, a Brazilian influencer and aspiring lawyer, has tragically passed away at the age of 19 due to complications arising from a liver transplant. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by her father, Vitor Valim, the mayor of Caucia in Ceará, through a statement on his Instagram page.
In the statement, Mayor Vitor Valim expressed profound pain and sorrow over the loss of his beloved daughter. He conveyed gratitude for the prayers and support extended to him and his family during this time of immense suffering.
The sequence of events leading to Sofia’s untimely demise unfolded on December 5, when Mayor Vitor Valim initially shared on Instagram that Sofia was facing health complications requiring a liver transplant. Though the specific ailment was not disclosed, he later announced that a suitable donor had been found, and the transplant had been successfully conducted.

Mayor Vitor Valim wrote, “After following the legal procedures and joining the liver transplant queue, Sofia was able to find a donor due to the urgency of her case. This morning, a compatible donor was found, and the surgery was carried out successfully. However, the next 48 hours will still be observation so that we can know if Sofia’s body will accept the new organ.”
Despite the initial success of the transplant, Sofia’s body could not withstand the challenges, and she ultimately succumbed to the complications. The exact cause of her death has not been disclosed by medical authorities as of now.
Before her passing, Sofia had gained popularity on Instagram, sharing content related to workouts, skincare, and travel with her substantial following of over 100,000. She frequently showcased her affinity for luxury brands and expressed her love for “Ferrari” cars.

In one of her last posts on November 25, Sofia shared a photo of herself joyfully raising her arm at a Taylor Swift concert during the Brazil leg of the “Eras Tour.” Besides her social media presence, Sofia was also dedicated to her studies in law, which she declared to be the “love of her life.”
The news of Sofia’s passing elicited an outpouring of grief from her fans and fellow influencers. Colleagues and friends expressed their condolences, with many emphasizing Sofia’s special and beloved nature. Giovanna de Freitas, another content creator, conveyed her sentiments, saying, “May God welcome you with open arms! You were and always will be very special.”
