Kieran Culkin Expresses Desire for More Children to His Wife During Best Actor Emmy Acceptance: “You Mentioned a Possibility if I Won”

Kieran Culkin Tells His Wife He Wants More Kids While Accepting Best Actor Emmy: “You Said Maybe If I Win”

Kieran Culkin quipped to his wife on stage that he’s ready to grow their family following his first-ever Emmy win on Monday night’s 2023 Emmys.

“My beautiful wife Jazz, thank you for sharing your life with me and giving me two amazing kids, Kinsey Sioux and Wilder Wolf. I love you so many and so much,” Culkin said from the stage. “And Jazz: I want more. You said maybe if I win.”

His joke was met with laughter from the theater as Jazz also smiled and laughed in her seat.

Culkin received the Emmy award for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Roman Roy in Succession, which released its fourth and final season in 2023. The trophy is his third nomination and first win and comes on the heels of his wins from the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards earlier this month. Succession also won Best Drama Series at all three ceremonies.

“I love you all so much,” Culkin said from the Emmys stage. “Especially everyone in the cast…every single one of you, thank you so much. I love you.”

He then shouted out Jesse Armstrong “for being a brilliant writer, showrunner, and gentleman. Thank you for Succession.”

In addition to his tribute to his wife, Culkin also thanked his mother “for giving me life and my childhood, which was so great” and his manager of 29 years, Emily Gerson-Saines. “I just have to thank you for keeping my name in the conversation when nobody was talking about me. As far as I’m concerned, this is yours,” he said.

Backstage in the press room, he gave the backstory on his comments about wanting another child.

“A couple of months ago, I’d been asking for a while, and my wife, Jazz, said, ‘Maybe if you win the Emmy,’” Culkin explained. “And I didn’t bring it up for months, and then when I won the Globe, I said, ‘Remember what you said?’ She said, ‘What, I don’t remember,’ and then I told her and it all came back to her. So she spent the whole week being nervous, and instead of talking to her in private like a human, I just blasted her onstage, which was very rude. Anyway, that’s the whole story, the end.”

Asked if he’d name the baby Roman after his Succession character, he said, “No.”

Succession won a total of seven Emmys on Monday, including wins for Jesse Armstrong, Sarah Snook, Matthew MacFayden, and director Mark Mylod. Actors Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Nicholas Braun, Alan Ruck, Alexander Skarsgard, J. Smith-Cameron, James Cromwell, Arian Moayed, Hiam Abbass, Cherry Jones and Harriet Walter all received nominations.

Culkin was nominated alongside Jeff Bridges (The Old Man), Brian Cox (Succession), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) and Jeremy Strong (Succession) for the Emmy Award.

The 2023 Emmys aired live from L.A.’s Peacock Theater on Fox. Anthony Anderson hosted.
