The actress, now a mother to two boys, August “Gus,” 2, and Oscar “Ozzie,” 1, with her husband Taylor Goldsmith, reminisced about a time when she feared she might not be able to have children.
In the candid post, Moore posted a throwback video of her younger self with cats, emphasizing her deep desire to become a mother. She recalled the moment when a doctor informed her of a slim chance of conception, only to be pleasantly surprised when she became pregnant with Gus.

Motherhood, as she described it, is a “beautiful, messy, sleepless gift,” and she acknowledged that her role as Rebecca Pearson in “This Is Us” helped prepare her for the real-life challenges of being a mom. Moore shared how playing a mother to triplets on the show provided some insight into aspects of parenting, such as changing diapers for the first time.
Despite the difficulties, Moore expressed the impossibility of getting everything right as a parent, highlighting a quote from her on-screen character Rebecca: “‘It’s my job to keep standing there with my arms wide open, waiting for you to maybe someday fall inside if you needed it.'”
Closing her heartfelt note, Moore stated, “And to that I say, Rebecca, I see it!” The actress has been open about her initial shock upon discovering her pregnancy and the challenges she faced due to uterus issues. In a 2021 interview with Romper, she revealed her hesitance to believe the news given her health concerns.
Since becoming a mother, Moore has shared both the highs and lows of parenthood, including the joys of breastfeeding and the challenges of being a working mom. Despite the hurdles, she hasn’t ruled out the possibility of expanding her family, expressing in 2023 that she hasn’t written off having a third child.
