The Rookie by Alexi Hawley is an American Police TV Series produced for ABC. The show follows the story of a forty-five-year-old man, John Nolan, a recent divorcee. He is from Pennsylvania, father of a son in college, and was the former owner of a construction company. Now having to start over, he inadvertently gets himself in a life-altering incident. He helps police officers during a bank robbery, therefore, makes the decision to pursue his dream of joining the LAPD.
So, he finally moves to Los Angeles and graduates from the Academy as the oldest Rookie in the force. Being the oldest rookie, he meets with skepticism everywhere he goes and is looked at as a midlife crisis. Now, Nolan must work through the dangerous and unpredictable nature of his job while fighting his critics.
As said by the series lead Nathon Fillion, the story is inspired by a true story. LAPD is only one of the two agencies which accept an officer over the age of 37. Later, it was revealed that the story was based on the executive producer, Bill Norcross. He still continues to serve the force as an LAPD officer.
What happened till now?
By the end of Season Two, Nolan is his greatest danger yet. As he realizes that his mentor and friend Detective Nick Armstrong was a corrupt cop. It was likely that he was working for the Armenian mob under Serj Darien. So, John goes to serial killer Rosalind Dyer to gain some Intel. She revealed a possible place where he might find evidence on Armstrong. But, when John is at Nick’s place, things don’t go smoothly. Certain events lead them to exchange gunshots, in which John appeared the victor. That is when Armstrong revealed that he had already planted evidence to frame Nolan as being the corrupt cop.
Nolan rushed back home in search of the planted evidence. As soon as he found a compartment built into the wall, cops started bearing down with sirens and lights outside. With Armstrong seemingly pulling the string, cops are at his door, ready to arrest him.
Season 3 Release Date
The second season of The Rookie aired from September 29, 2019, to May 10, 2020. In May 2020 itself, ABC renewed the show for a third season to start premiering on 3rd January 2021. Season 3 of The Rookie will bow in reclaiming its Season 2 timeslot on ABC at 10 pm EST. Be sure to change the above time to your timezone to catch the episode as soon as it airs. What will happen in Season 3?
John Nolan is now being framed to be a corrupt cop and an adversary to the Armenian mob. With Nick Armstrong trying to frame him, Nolan seems to be in big trouble. Armstrong has a big reputation in the force, while John, just being a rookie, doesn’t help. Also, the exchange of fire between the two only adds fuel to the fire, with the circumstantial evidence seeming accurate. From the looks of it, Season 3 will focus on Nolan trying to clear his name.
