Kartik and Naira, or ‘Kaira,’ as the fans affectionately address them, have been among the most popular Indian Television characters for the last couple of years. ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai,’ starring Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan as the current leader, has maintained its position on the chart of top running shows since the year it premiered on TV in 2009. Initially, the main leads of the show were Hina Khan and Karan Mehra, that portrayed the characters of Akshara and Naitik and continue to be the ones of the most loved on-screen couple. But as time passed, a leap was taken by the show that introduced us to the characters of Naira and Kartik, which became the heart and soul of the show. Naira is Akshara and Naitik’s daughter, and Kartik being her husband. The two have managed to gain immense love and support with their onscreen duo as a couple, affectionately known as ‘Kaira.’
But the show is all set to take a new turn and unfold some new chapters in a story, with a new beginning. Since the last few episodes, we’ve witnessed the death of Naira. The tragedy occurred when the entire Goenka and Singhania family were returning home after overcoming the hurdles that lay amidst their lives. They were enjoying their bus ride, in the company of each other, unaware of what their fate beholds. They meet with an accident, and the bus gets stuck on the verge of a high cliff. The family somehow manages to escape the bus, but Naira’s leg gets stuck in the bus, making it impossible for her to move. Kartik gets adamant and doesn’t live Naira alone.
He somehow manages to free her leg and makes sure she gets out of the bus. The bus soon starts to lose its balance, and Naira ends up falling towards the lower end of the bus, pleading with Kartik to leave her and get out of the bus because she can’t see him getting her. Kartik somehow manages to save his wife and doesn’t leave her in the hands of fate. The two make it on the safer side of their lives and get out of the bus together. Their families breathe in the air of relief, and just when everyone thought it was an end to their catastrophic times, the irreversible damage to them takes place. The land at the cliff’s edge gets disrupted, and to save Kartik from falling down the cliff, Naira loses her balance and falls. Kartik tries to save her and hold her hand but fails to protect her. He becomes devastated and uncontrollable and stays there all day, waiting for her, while the rescue team looks for her down the cliff.

The promo of a new turn in the story, Naira’s death, had been released by Star Plus last month, where Mohsin Khan, aka Kartik, is seen performing the last rites of Naira. A lot of negative responses were witnessed by the show, and the fans seemed to be disappointed by the ‘twist’ the creative team of the show is willing to introduce. They’re protested against the death of their favorite character and aren’t ready to accept the new story the makers are planning. Just when the fans started speculating the return of Naira, with time, which is very common in daily soaps, a new video of Shivangi Joshi, aka Naira, was released by the team where she bids her character and the show a final goodbye.

But as per the reports and the rumor doing the rounds, the video has been uploaded to gain some TRP, and the character of Naira will be back with time. However, while she fights between life and death with Kartik, a divine charm gets attached to her bangles, and the fans feel this is an indication that the character will return after a certain leap in the show. The show is believed to follow a story where Naira will be rescued by people and rushed to a hospital, where she gets into a coma and is likely to return home. However, we are quite unsure of the ‘new beginning’ with the end of the female lead beholds. ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ airs on Star Plus at 9:30 pm and is also available on the online streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar with all the previous episodes.
