The teenage mind works in some bizarre ways, which is exactly what we see happening. Clare sees Gabriel and Mary exchanging notes and informs Eren of the same. Fuelled by Clare’s tip-off, Eren starts suspecting her Mum. The gang spots Ma Mary and Gabriel drinking wine at a house and expects the worse.
Seeing her Mum and Gabriel talk in a jolly manner at the talent show crushes Eren. However, things are not quite what she thinks. Gabriel and Ma Mary are classmates and attend night school together. Ashamed of taking up education this late Mary kept it a secret from everyone. The scene hits home for many, especially in today’s socio-economic climate.
